New Nails: Polka Dot

When I saw that the Models Own x Wah Nails nail art pens had been released I jumped at the chance to buy them. I got both the black and the white because even though they're supposed to be releasing nail art pens of all their colours, black & white are great to start with. I picked up a nail varnish in Top Turquoise with these as I realised that I didn't own a turquoise colour. This was also my first ever Models Own polish. I always stuck with Barry M and apart from the pens, I think I will continue with just buying Barry M. The turquoise colour is really pretty and applies really thickly - it looked pretty good after just one coat. However it doesn't dry very quickly and I found it went gunky when I applied the second coat. It also looked like the colours had separated a bit in the bottle and no matter how much I shook it up, it stayed like that. It made me wonder if they had sent me really old stock or something...

Anyway I used the turquoise and the white pen to create this polka dot look. I know its quite simple but its something I've always wanted to try out. The pen made it quite easy to do the dots (any blobs are pretty much human error!). I found the polka dot pattern looks best if you do three dots down the middle of the nail and then two either side of that. Seche Vite really helped to finish them off as it smoothed down the big white blobs.

The bunny ring is from Me & Zena but I bought it off Spoiled Brat using Emma's discount code (thanks Emma!). I got it in a size 8 so its a bit big for my fingers and I have to wear it on my index finger which feels a bit weird. I'm also really happy as I finally managed to get my engagement ring on again! Its a size L and I still had fat fingers for ages after pregnancy, now it fits yay!

BTW thanks for all the lovely comments on my hair in my last post! I'm glad you all like it as much as I do :)

  8. Ooooh very nice indeed! Heard great things about these pens and because I'm not the most steady-handed when I'm applying nail polish I reckon this would be sooo handy :)

    The colour you've gone for looks great - bright and eye catching but still seriously pretty ♥

    @cowbiscuits - they were only 6 quid which is a bargain really because they're not scratchy and horrible like most nail art pens! could get expensive when they bring out the other colours tho!

    @beewaits - i use a canon 400d :) thanks for following, i'll check out your blog now!
