On Wednesday it was Chloe's 2nd birthday. It feels so weird to say I have a two year old now! I really don't know where that time has gone. We had planned to take her to Tropical World in Leeds and for a picnic in Roundhay Park but the snow soon put paid to that idea. Instead we just had a day of opening presents and eating lots of cake. We bought her a play kitchen with lots of little bits to go with it. She really loves it and has lots of fun making us 'meals'. My mum got her a big keyboard & an easel because she loves music & drawing. My plans for a four layer pink ombre cake went slightly awry when my first two layers fell apart as I tried to get them out of the pan! I couldn't find any parchment paper so they stuck to the base. So I just made the second batch bright pink and then covered them with buttercream icing. I definitely underestimated how difficult writing icing can be so it looked a bit rubbish. Luckily it tasted much better than it looked. No one visited us so four layers of sponge would've been a bit excessive anyway. Despite the snow I think Chloe had a nice birthday. She loved all her presents and her cake. Hopefully next year she'll have some little friends to invite too.
