STEAMCREAM Limited Edition Ume Ni Uguisu Tin

STEAMCREAM Limited Edition Ume Ni Uguisu Tin* - £12.95

I always like to keep a moisturiser or two in my handbag & the latest addition to my collection is this gorgeous little tin of STEAMCREAM. The beauty of this moisturiser is that it is a multipurpose cream suitable for use on the face, hands & body. The idea of using the same product on your face & body might make some people squirm. Surely something that can be used to soothe rough elbows & knees would be far too rich for your face? However you can rest assured that this cream is a small miracle worker & is one of the few multipurpose products that truly can be used anywhere.

Every tin of STEAMCREAM has been freshly handmade using high-quality, natural ingredients that are fused together by a shot of steam. This unique production method makes the cream very lightweight so it sinks in quite quickly & ensures it's suitability for all areas of the face & body. The texture is like a thick gel-cream hybrid. Although it is easily absorbed into the skin, the hydration is long-lasting so your skin feels soft & smooth long after you've applied it. The cream is vegan-friendly and mostly natural. There are a few preservatives present but without them the product would become unusable after a couple of weeks. Otherwise the ingredient list is very impressive. This moisturiser is full of natural goodness. Oatmeal, sweet almond oil, lavender oil, orange flower water, jojoba oil, neroli oil, chamomile blue oil & rose absolute are just a few of the key ingredients that will help make your skin feel nourished & hydrated and look bright & calm. The scent is like a mixture of lavender & Sudocrem. If you're not into herbal scents then this would probably be too overpowering for you but it's quite relaxing once you get used to it.

Due to the small size of the tin - which contains 75g of product - I don't use this all over my body. It's much better kept as a portable moisturiser for your hands, elbows, knees or any other dry patches you might have. I sometimes get flareups of eczema & this cream works incredibly well on those. It feels so soothing and keeps the dryness & irritation at bay. Personally, if I'm gonna use it on my face, I prefer it as a night cream. Using it overnight allows my skin to fully absorb all the lovely oils & nutrients from the cream. STEAMCREAM claim that it is suitable for all skin types & while I do agree with that, I think that anyone with oily or combination skin would be better off using something slightly lighter in the daytime. It sits really well under makeup but it can make my forehead look a little bit shiny. It doesn't contain any SPF either which is always something to bear in mind. If you have a dry or normal skin type then knock yourself out, this cream would be absolutely perfect for you 24/7.

One of my favourite things about this product is the adorable designs they put on their tins. Here I have the Ume Ni Uguisu version which is one of their limited edition designs for Spring. Ume Ni Uguisu is a Japanese idiom, meaning 'a great match'. The Japanese plum blossoms (Ume) & the Bush Warbler (Uguisu) symbolise new beginnings as traditionally their arrival announces the beginning of Spring. I love learning about Japanese culture & my dream is to visit Japan one day. I'd especially like to go during one of their Spring festivals. I think this tin is really beautiful & would make a lovely addition to any handbag. STEAMCREAM have so many different tin designs in their shop so you're bound to find one that you love.

  8. Such a cute design! I'm tempted if only for that but moisturisers either work for me or destroy my skin for ages, there's no inbetween!

    1. I struggle with finding moisturisers that won't break me out or irritate my skin too. The steam creation process makes this one at lot less likely to irritate the skin. It's just the luck of the draw sometimes though :/ xx

  10. This is such a beautiful design, as are the designs on most of their tins. I would love to give Steam Cream a try (even if it's just so I could keep the pretty tin afterwards) but as they contain lavender oil (which I'm allergic to) unfortunately I can't try them :( I'm considering getting a couple for my mum for Mothers day though and then asking if I can have the tin's afterwards ;)

    1. Aww no that's such a shame! If you do end up getting your mum some you should definitely keep the tins when she's done. They're perfect for keeping little things like mints or hair grips in! xx
